Certified Italian Native Speaker
I’m currently a student of a “Teaching Italian as L2” Master in University. I’ve always given homework support to children aged between 6 and 14 years old, helping them with all kind of subjects, including english, italian, history, geography, etc. I strongly believe that is when the brain struggles to find a solution, is when real comprehension happen. Thus, I usually explain the concept by using simple yet right words and then I asked them to kind of “teaching” me what they have understood; you have not comprehended something unless you can’t explain it. To me, is important to make a child feel seen, heard and supported, even if I had to repeat myself 200 times.
